The Brook

A local newbie cacher has set five new caches in the area. They are all along the Prittlewell Brook and are a bit tricky to get to as most of them involve jumping down 6feet into the brook itself. One is actually under a bridge near a rotting cat. I think I will wait until the cat doesn't smell so much!

The fifth one that was published is actually in a tunnel that the brook runs through, along with channels from the roads for the floodwaters. So best not try that one after a lot of rain. I did go and look at it and climbed into the tunnel. I had both the large torch and my headtorch so could see fairly well. I managed to go in about 20 feet but couldn't find the cache. I need to go back in there again. it is not the physically demanding nature of crouching along that distance, not being able to stand up straight, but that there are loads and loads of large spiders. Just the thought of it makes me cringe. And I need to go back in. YIKES. I will do it though, cos I'm daft I guess.

I DID IT.  Thanks to $tu who appeared just as I was going in a second time.  He went further ahead in the tunnel and spotted the cache.  He did offer to sign it for me, but that would be cheating.  So I huffed and puffed and went as fast as I could, swearing the whole way!.  Finally reached the cache, signed the log super quick and hightailed it back out of there!  My legs were killing me.  But what an achievement. Very proud of myself. :)  Just hope I don't have too many nightmares.  Uggh it makes my shudder just to think of those horrid spiders.
